Our vision

Uplift, encourage, and inspire the Caribbean Dutch community through imagination — by building a strong and inclusive society that nurtures creative potential for everyone and artistic excellence for top talent.
Through cultural theatre education, we connect heritage, roots, and identity — creating space for all talents and stories from the Caribbean region, in relation to the Kingdom and the wider world.

Our mission

Our mission is to create a cultural Skills movement where students learn about life, through theatre, technology, and the arts – using language as a bridge to share stories that connect and inspire.
We aim to cultivate a creative environment where empathy thrives, diversity is celebrated, and cultures are explored through meaningful education and theatrical expression. At the same time, we foster the
development of more theater professionals who broaden and enrich the cultural and theatrical field with new and diverse offerings.

Testimonials

"There is a great need for first-degree theater education in Aruba. We have three first-degree theater teachers and five second-degree theater teachers working in Aruba. Two others are no longer active. So the same teachers are always being called upon. Teachers with a background in dance, music, or visual arts are often called upon to teach theater in secondary education. The same teachers are asked to run theater projects in the neighborhoods after a full day's work at school. After a full day's work at school, the same teachers are asked to run theater projects in the neighborhoods as well. The importance of artistic education and creativity development, including theater, is increasingly recognized. New projects are being developed, and one could almost say that the available theater teachers are being overworked. A shortened theater teacher training program will certainly offer a solution."
"Theater is a way to practice life together. By sharing stories, we connect in a way that goes beyond everyday interactions. It creates encounters that touch us, make us question things, and can bring us closer together. TEP shows what we can achieve when we build on what we share. With an eye for shared history, representation, and ownership, we lift up the talents that are abundant within the Caribbean Netherlands and Suriname. In this way, we work together to strengthen the community. It feels like an honor to be able to contribute to this."
"Bonaire has a growing need for qualified professionals in the arts and culture sector. These individuals must not only be able to teach disciplines such as drama, music, dance, and singing, but also be able to function as producers, project writers, and creators. To meet this need, an abbreviated arts and culture program is being set up at the higher professional education level. This shortened arts and culture program offers a direct solution to the shortage of qualified teachers and cultural professionals on Bonaire. Through a practice-oriented and broad-based program, students are given the opportunity to develop within the cultural sector, with opportunities to progress to a higher level of education. This contributes to the cultural enrichment and community building of Bonaire."
